I had so much fun shooting with a group of talented artists in the studio last weekend. This is what I have been wanting to do for a long time – fashion editorial! We did this shoot for a designer’s vintage clothing store in Kansas City – Redoux Fashions. It takes a lot more effort than just a photographer to complete a session like this. Fashion designer or whoever provides the wardrobe would be the key for the shoot. Based on whatever clothing or accessories provided by the fashion designer, photographers, makeup artists, and hair stylists would design the look for the model and come up with a concept or theme for the shoot.
With the limited time we had that afternoon, we did a total of four different outfits. Here’re some of my favorite shots, including a little behind the scene photo.
The main difference between fashion and portrait photography is that fashion focus on the clothes/accessories while the later focus on the person. Notice this big hat she’s wearing? This is the key for this outfit. Of course the fuzzy gown too. We had a fan blowing the fuzzy gown from the model’s left side. This is the last outfit for the shoot. The talented designer Breanne Bruning made the bodysuit herself. She hand crafted the mask until 3am the night before the shoot.
I always like to capture a little backstage shots while makeup artist stylist (MUAH) putting on makeup and styling hair for the model. It really takes a team to complete the look.
