I knew my little girl had an interest in modeling back when she was 8 months old. She knows her mommy always point a black box at her every single day, whether it’s a small black box or a big one. After 2 years training, this little girl will be 3 years old in less than 2 months. She is all ready for some serious work instead just candid pictures.
I started renting a studio share in Kansas City downtown. As I am getting into studio lighting and model photography, I need a subject to practice and someone who could not turn me down. At the same time, I feel guilty leaving my kids at home in the weekends and go to studio on my own. My husband suggested this fantastic idea last weekend “why don’t I take the kids to go?” Thank you! We brought a few kids movies and a portable DVD player to entertain the kids while I was setting up the scene and lighting. I called both Audrey and Wesley to come to my setup. Audrey was so excited to walk onto the white backdrop. She stood there for 2 minutes for me to take a few test shots. Then I gave her a pink bouquet; she started posing without being asked. Wesley seems wanting to walk onto the setup, so I took his shoes off and put him on the backdrop. He didn’t even want to stand. Instead, he threw a tantrum on the backdrop. We had to remove him from the scene. That’s a terrible 2. I hope it’s just the age of not understanding things and not wanting to cooperate.
After the shoot I asked Audrey, “Did you have fun? Do you want to come here again?” She said, “Yes mommy I had lots of fun. I want to come back!” I knew I found my all time model for studio lighting. We took a few natural light pictures outside of my studio space in downtown. It’s so pretty in that area. There’s a bridge right by the building and railway behind the building. The location is just fantastic, where I think every corner could be good for pictures. Audrey wanted to stand on the bridge to overlook the railway. Wesley was running around outside and looking at cars coming by. It was such a fun experience for all of us. We shall try that again.
