Invited by my friend Carole, I had the pleasure to shoot for Eisterhold Associates Inc almost two months ago and I finally got the permission to share the photos.
Eisterhold Associates is an exhibit design and planning firm specializing in museums and interpretive experiences. Among their senior associates they hold some 250 years of creative experience in master planning and exhibition design. They are particularly well known for site-specific media and interactives. Projects include:
The design studio is led by president Gerard (Jerry) Eisterhold. His studio is located in the beautiful country side, where his front yard is a vineyard. Half of the farm house is his exhibit design studio. Gerard and his wife live on the other half of the house. Carole is the marketing manager of the studio and she thinks that it was time to update all the photos they use in their marketing material. Right after I knocked on the door, a friendly beagle welcomed me. His name is Bagel! Bagel likes me and he would pose for me non-stop. After playing with Bagel. I started talking to everyone in the studio and took a couple pictures of each associate working to warm them up. The design studio is really neat. I really like the interior design of the studio space.
The major part of the shoot was to capture how designers and other associates work together as a team in Eisterhold. With over 250 years of combined creative experience in the studio, Jerry shared some of their recent projects. There was not a lot of people in the studio that day because lots of them travel and some work remotely. The studio recently signed a contract to work on Union Station’s exhibit re-design. It was targeted to complete by fall 2014. After we are done with the work-space photos, we all went outside to take a group picture in front of the vineyard. It was just too beautiful that I did not want to leave.
Jerry does not only just have the vineyard, he also makes his own wine. He was generous enough to give me a tour of his cellar, which he collects thousands of imported wines. He is working on branding his own wine and potentially to sell them. So after I told you so many stories about Jerry and his vineyard, what would you guess the biggest benefit of being an Eisterhold associate? Hmm, enjoy the beautiful vineyard view at work? That’s one of them, but not the biggest. Drinking wine at work?! Bingo! That’s right. Daily wine hour is after 3 every afternoon. Cheers! Jerry also has some super cute guinea hens. They were so good when I took that guinea hen group picture for them.
It was a wonderful experience to shoot the Eistehold museum design studio. This is a true photojournalism experience for me. I look forward to work on more projects like this when I am not working on portraits.
