After shooting with Staci in the studio, I am more interested in fashion photography. Either on location using natural light or in studio using studio lighting, models and styling are major components of a successful fashion photo shoot. So… I started hunting for models. It does takes some courage to talk to pretty people and ask them to model. I met Katie through my day job. I wanted to talk to her the first time I saw her, but I didn’t. It took another month for me to finally ask her if she is interested in modeling for one of my photographer projects. She said yes, but she was very nervous about modeling and pose in front of a group of photographers. I personally prefer 1 on 1 session with my subject as well, so I took her to West Bottom for a private session prior to meet with other photographers in Ilus Park in Kansas City downtown. Katie felt much more comfortable that way. I also took my husband to shoot the first time because I needed his assistance holding my reflector. He also kept talking to Katie, which made her relax, smile, and pose naturally. There’re a few behind the scene pictures at the end of this post. One of my photographer friends Josh also modeled for me last year featured in my Abandoned Glory series. I could definitely see a difference of photography and editing style when I compare my old work with my current photography work. Also in the behind the scene pictures, another photographer that I co-shoot with was taking photos for Katie and my husband was holding the reflector. It was a fun on location session.
I hope to work with professional models, makeup artists, stylists for fun concept/themed fashion photo shoot. If you are one of them and would like to try something fun, don’t hesitate to contact me! I am constantly looking for eye-catchy girls and guys to be discovered as future stars!
