Remember baby Elliott from his fresh 48, newborn, and three months sessions? Yes, this is the fourth time I am photographing baby Elliott. We had an impression that baby Elliott did not like my camera in the past two sessions, so his parents and I were a little nervous about this session. His mommy and daddy did tell me that he is getting a lot better with camera and will smile. That made me feel a lot better.
Our discussion on the theme of this session started before he was born. Baby’s daddy is a serious gamer. He wanted to do a gaming themed session with baby Elliott. Maybe this baby is a natural gamer like his daddy. He seemed really comfortable sitting in our setup. I let his parents pick 20 backdrop/floor drop combinations before the session, and finally they picked the grey seamless paper. It’s the simplest and most elegant backdrop. We all agree that our gaming setup with game consoles, controllers, and game boxes might need a really simple background. As soon as we placed baby Elliott on the rug, he started playing with the game controller. His mommy said, “It would be awesome if he grabs a game and put in his mouth.” Yes, he did that soon after I started shooting.
I just love six months old babies. They sit, roll over, and smile. Of course, they are teething too. Elliott is a total different baby compare to his three months shoot. He is so energetic and outgoing. His personality started to show at this stage. He looked at my camera and smiled on his own. I guess his mommy trained him well looking at camera and respond to it. Did I mention how much I love the outfit his mommy picked out for the gaming theme? He looks like a nerdy baby. We also did some simple portraits with just his suspender and jeans. Oh, this baby is on FIRE! He really loves camera now. It is amazing how a little person could change his personality within just three months. Baby Elliott smiled all the way until the end of the session. I am so happy to document baby Elliott’s growth milestones and cannot wait to see him again for his one year old session.
